Reading
This week read Pop’s Bridge.  We worked on adding s, es, ing, and ed endings.  We worked on the skill of comparing and contrasting, long o spelled ow, oa, and common and proper nouns.  1XL has some great extra practice in the Language Arts section.
Writing
We are working on several items for the Grandparent’s Day program, on October 19, at 1:15.  Invitations will come home next week. Please send the names of the grandparents that will be attending the program for your child so we can write introductions.  Also, please notify me if your chlld won’t have any grandparent here for the program, and we will find an “honorary” grandparent for them.
Social Science
We will be finishing up Chapter 1 Living things next week.  We are learning about plants and their structures, and types of animals.
Math
We are still working on rounding and estimating to nearest 10 and 100.  Please practice this at home. We worked on rounding and adding, and next we will be rounding and subtracting.  It is important that they know their basic math facts. We should be finishing up Chapter 1 sometime next week also.
